Close shave for passengers as bus catches fire

Friday, 27 September 2019 | PNS | NABARANGPUR

A bus caught fire while being in motion near the Circuit House in the town on Thursday. Fortunately, all the passengers and bus staffs managed to alight from the vehicle before the fire spread.

Reports said a private bus ‘Chakadola’ was on its way to Jeypore from Bhubaneswar, when the fire started from the front portion of the bus.

Though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, short circuit due to negligence in maintenance is suspected to have led to the mishap.

It is the second such instance to be reported recently.

Earlier on August 28, another bus bearing of the same name that plies to Kalahandi from Bhubaneswar was completely gutted after a major fire broke out inside it while it was parked at the Baramunda Bus Stand in Bhubaneswar.
