As part of India’s endeavour to reach out to countries of Middle East in the field of defence cooperation, a contingent of United Arab Emirates (UAE) is undergoing training at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.
The contingent from UAE, comprising of 20 soldiers reached IMA, Dehradun on July 17 July. The training starting from Thursday would span over a period of seven weeks and conclude on August 31.
The training would involve various aspects pertaining to ‘Drill’ which is the bedrock of discipline in the Armed Forces. This kind of military training engagements, with friendly foreign countries, has been facilitated by the Indian Army for a large number of foreign militaries in the past, however, this is the first time that this kind of a training has been organized for the officers and soldiers of UAE at IMA.
It is pertinent to mention here that a contingent of the UAE army had participated in the Republic Day parade in 2017 for the first time.
“Spearheading India’s outreach for increased engagement with the Middle East, in defence cooperation, IMA, one of the premier Pre-Commission Training Institutes of the country, shall be imparting training to the soldiers from UAE. The interaction between counter parts will go a long way in enhancing the bonhomie that the two countries already enjoy,’’ said a communiqué from the IMA.
