Deworming day observed for worm free lives

In an attempt to make worm free life of adolescents, Health Minister of the State, Ramchandra Chandravanshi launched National Deworming day by administrating ‘Albendazole’ tablets to students of Kairali School on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion Chandravanshi said, children are getting the medicine to get dewormed since last few years. In February 2019, as many as 1,42,17,169 children have been targeted to get rid of worms.

“Including 25,08,154 children from private schools. Keeping in view the danger of public health of intestinal infections in children and youth of 1 to 19 years, drug delivery will be provided in various government and private schools of the State, at Anganwadi centers, in inter-colleges, in technical colleges.

Worm vaccine drug Albendazole tablet will be given to children of 1-2 years for children aged two to 3 years and children and youth from 3 to 19 years of age” he added.

Informing about the preparation of the programme, Chandravanshi said, “Six stages of the programme have been completed till now.

For this stage a total of 43, 881 teachers of Government schools have got training to administer ‘Albendazole’ to the children including 37, 477 Trained Anganbadi Worker also deployed for the work.”

While giving detail information of the programme Mission Director, Kripanand Jha said, during the seven round of the programme age group of 20-24 years of women are included who are not pregnant and feminine less.

“The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has started the work with selected 11 eleven states in 2015. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) more than 22 million children are worm inflicted under the age of 5 in the country for 14 years” he added.

Speaking on the affect of worm Jha said, “National Deworming Day aims to make worm free for improvement in children and young people’s health, nutritional status and cognitive development and quality of life.

Worm transition does not appear directly, but it also negatively impacts the health of children and their homogenous development. Albendajol is one of the best medicines for prevention and control of this negative impact.”
