The accused have been identified as Rahul Chaudhary (27) and Vipin Gupta (21), both resident of Dal Mill road at Uttam Nagar. Police said Rahul is national-level body builder and presently he used to preside over body building championships as judge. Police said Chaudhary is also operating a gym named in G-1 Block of Uttam Nagar.

According to Anto Alphonse, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Dwarka district, on 10 December, specific inputs were received that one well known body builder of the area is involved in the robbery and is roaming in the Dall Mill Road area for another robbery.

"A trap was laid and two suspects on one white scooty were spotted in the streets of Uttam Nagar. When they were asked to stop by the police team, they tried to flee but were overpowered," said the DCP.

"During interrogation, the accused Rahul Chaudhary told police that as he had habit of living lavish life style, the low income always haunted his dream of appearing in some international body building championships. When his father could not help with the money, he decided to earn quick money through 'any means'," said the DCP.

"Chaudhary roped in his friend Vipin Gupta, who was a frequent visitor to his gym and shared common lust of luxury life style. Rahul procured one Sophisticated Pistol 0.32" and intended to use it on the victims if there was risk of being caught. He also provided one toy pistol to Vipin to use it as real threat," said the DCP.

"Vipin told police that he always wanted luxury life style and he came close to Rahul. Vipin supported the plan of Rahul to have quick money from 'any means' and both decided to commit robbery in Uttam Nagar area itself. Vipin carried the toy pistol and few live rounds to use during the robbery. Both carried out recee of Uttam Nagar area to choose the target during first week of December, 2019," said the DCP.

Accordingly, they shortlisted the victim Deepak Bansal on gun point and robbed him of Rs. 4.68 lakh rupees which he was carrying at that time to deposit in bank," said the DCP adding that further investigation is going on.
