ECI publishes final electoral roll ahead of LS elections

The final electoral roll after the special electoral revision drive ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections was published on Friday.

According to official sources in Chief Electoral Officer’s office there are a total of 1,89,16,285 voters in the state as per the final electoral role. This include 94,38,463 female and 709 third gender.

During the drive, new names were added, deleted, names rectified and others issues were resolved. After the final publication, those electors who have registered their names can now view their names in the electoral roll.

Names of those who have attained the age of 18 years on January 1, 2019 have been added to the electoral roll. Those left out have a chance to register their names in the specified registration process through online application in the portal https://www.nvsp.in/ .

Office of the Chhattisgarh Chief Electoral Officer informed that Election Commission has been organising different activities to create awareness among the electors and link them to election activities. Elector certification and information programme, under ‘Voter Verification and Information Programme (VVIP) is being organised for the whole country, it said. 

Under this programme, the electorates can also register their names in the electoral roll or make necessary corrections from the comfort of their homes. Call centre facility has also been provided in all the district headquarters of the country.

‘Voter Helpline’ android application has also been launched where one can download it by going to Google play store, which is free of cost.

Through the application the elector can see personal information or electoral identification card. Even short message service (SMS) facilities are also being provided. All these services are free of cost. CEO Subrat Sahoo has made an appeal to all the electors to check their name through website and if their name is not registered, then immediately they can apply online through, https://www.nvsp.in/.
