Ensure quality education, excellence: Guv to V-Cs

Friday, 23 August 2019 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Governor and Chancellor Lalji Tandon, while talking to the Vice-Chancellors of Government Universities at Raj Bhavan on Thursday, said that universities should give top priority to quality education and campus excellence. He called for fixing of time-limit to ensure quality education, filling of vacant posts, developing a clean and green campus, enriched library and providing modern laboratories.

Tandon told the Vice Chancellors that the work culture should be result oriented. The tendency of blaming lack of resources for not giving good results must be changed. There will be no shortage of resources for those who move ahead with the changing times. The University Grants Commission, NAC and RUSA grading, new projects and various schemes run by the central government can provide ample resources to the university. The need is to work with progressive and positive thinking. Universities should plan their financial sources in such a way that 50 percent is generated by their own means and the remaining 25 percent each is generated by the government and other heads.

A university with high quality research and employment-oriented education will never fall back on resources.

The Governor said that many small things related to the university campus and management have a huge impact in the NAC grading of quality assessment. It is necessary that all universities pay special attention to cleanliness of their campus, enrichment of laboratory and library, water and energy conservation and self-reliance. An outlook with a dependent mindset has no future now.

The Governor said that university management is a medium of service to the nation.

The university is responsible for building the future of the country. Today's education is the basis for future generation.

The high grading excellent premises and research accomplishments are equal to medals of service to the nation.

Tandon laid special emphasis on the strengthening of NAC grading efforts of the universities.

The Governor told to organise joint seminars of the universities with the NAC Directors, RUSA experts and representatives of University Grants Commission.

Principal Secretary Higher Education Hariranjan Rao informed that the state government has granted approval of Rs 30 crore for Integrated University Management System and College Management System.

Secretary to the governor Manohar Dubey told to the universities to explore possibilities of developing sources of income through research projects.
