Friday, 06 September 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President, Pritam Singh has lambasted the state government for failing to take effective measures to tackle Dengue which has assumed epidemic proportions in Dehradun and nearby areas. Speaking to media persons at his office in Rajiv Bhawan on Thursday, Singh said that in provisional state capital Dehradun all the hospitals are overflowing with patients of dengue. He said that in the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital which is the only medical college hospital in Dehradun, the patients of dengue are continuing to mount but the State Government is not deploying more doctors there.

Continuing his diatribe on the government, the PCC chief said that in all the Government hospitals in the state are suffering from malfunctioning of old machines. He added that acute shortage of medicine has hit the Government hospitals hard. Singh claimed that the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana (AAUY) has failed and has become only a showpiece. He demanded that in view of onslaught of dengue more doctors should be deployed in the hospitals and adequate arrangement of medicines should be ensured.
