A person allegedly hacked his wife to death at Tikarpada under the Sadar police station in Mayurbhanj district late on Tuesday night.

The accused, identified as Karamu Singh, was later arrested by police.

Reports said Karamu and his wife Sabitri had a bitter quarrel over some matter. In a fit of rage, Karamu hacked his wife with a spade killing her on the spot.

It is alleged that the accused even attempted to kill his 13-year-old daughter by strangulating her. But she managed to escape.

Later, getting information about the incident the Sadar police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem and took the accused into custody.  Further investigations are on but police officials are yet to comment on the issue.
