Man held for positioning of 53.28 litres of liquor worth Rs 55,000

Ashoka Garden police have nabbed a miscreant from Baba Square and recovered illegally possessed 53.28 litres of liquor worth Rs 55,000 from his food stall on Thursday.

According to the police acting of a tip a man was detained from Baba Square during the day on Thursday and when his shop was searched police recovered 6 cartoons of liquor from their possession.

The accused was identified as Dhan Singh Raghuvanshi of Old Ashoka Garden.

Police said that accused was holding liquor without procuring license and was selling liquor at higher price as liquor selling is banned on Independence Day.

The accused runs a food stall and was selling liquor from the shop.

The source from which he had obtained the liquor would be investigated.

Based on the information of illegal selling of liquor when police team reached and checked the food stall liquor was found the accused tried to mislead and later tried to escape but was nabbed from the spot.

After the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 34 (2) of the Excise Act was registered and further investigation has been started. A total of 296 bottles carrying 53.28 litres of liquor was seized from the accused.

During the investigation police found that the accused has been booked for rioting, assault, gambling and possession of liquor illegally. He has been booked for over a dozen crimes and is active in crimes from the year 2012. The accused is listed in Gunda list of Ashoka Garden.
