The Punjab Government on Wednesday made it mandatory for registration of government and non-government organizations providing free housing, food, education, medical facilities etc to the needy children for their protection and care.
For the same, the government has set December 31, 2019, as the last date. At the same time, the government made it clear that action would be initiated against the unregistered bodies.
These institutions are required to register themselves under section 41 (1) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, said the state Social Security and Women and Child Development director Gurpreet Kaur Sapra.
She said that in case, any NGO is working for the children and has not yet been registered, should immediately contact the District Program Officer or the District Child Development Officer and submit their documents before December 31, 2019, for registration.
After the due date, if an unregistered organization found working, strict action will be taken against that under Section 42 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, said Sapra.
