After launching the common mobility card, the Delhi Government for the first time has launched a ‘Common mobility application-ONE DELHI’ to provide a better and smooth travel for thedaily users of Delhi Metro

and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses. The application will provide a real-time location of bus stops and buses through which commuters can easily locate the nearest bus stops, number of buses, routes and so on.

The app which will be updated every 45 minutes with information related to bus and metro routes was launched by the Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot and Delhi Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC) Chairperson  Jasmine Shah on Tuesday.

‘Our vision is to make Delhi a world class city and the Government is taking several initiatives to improve access, reliability and safety of Delhi’s buses. Our vision is to make public transport the preferred mode of transport in Delhi. Now, our citizens can

easily learn about bus routes, timings and real-time arrival data of buses rather than waiting for long hours, said Gahlot while inaugurating the ONE DELHI app.

The app will help the users to access real-time arrival of all cluster buses at any bus stop and static data of DTC buses. It will further allow the users to access all bus stops, bus and metro routes, fares, expected time of arrival (ETA) of buses and metro.

‘Just like ONE common mobility card, the ONE DELHI app will significantly enable a seamless experience of Delhi's public transport system. In addition, Government has plans to add new features to the App soon like recharge of ONE Card and integrated multi-modal journey planning across buses and metro. This app is currently available for android users and will be developed for Apple phone users soon,’ said the DDC chairperson Shah.

Further, the commuters can also access the data of occupancy of bus and can locate the bus stops, buses plying in their vicinity on the Map with detailed information such as its route and expected arrival time to the user location. The app also has a section where they file complaints and it will also show the current AQI of the time.

‘Moreover, the transport department has recently launched a Connect Delhi project to achieve the goal of connecting all colonies and villages of Delhi with a reliable bus service within 500m walking distance,’ added Gahlot.

Currently there are 5500 buses (including both clusters and DTC buses) running under the Delhi Transport Department. Further, the Government is going to purchase 4000 buses by 2020 to increase the transport facility as well as to increase the frequency. Among the 4000 buses, 1000 buses will be procured under DTC and the remaining 3000 buses (Low Floor AC and non-AC and standard floor buses with hydraulic lifts) will be bought under cluster services.

Further, the Central Government has also launched a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) recently to enable seamless travel by metro and other transport systems across the country besides retail shopping and purchases.
