Under the special drive of police to check illegally transported liquor, money and arms which could impact conducting of Lok Sabha elections, Parwalia police has on Sunday nabbed a 48-year old man and recovered a loaded country-made pistol and two live cartridges from his possession.
According to the police, acting on a tip off, a man was nabbed near Jhirnia and when he was searched, a country made pistol and cartridges were recovered from his possession.
The accused was nabbed when he tried to cross district checking border after spotting police personnel.
In the initial investigation, the miscreant was not able to provide any details of carrying the weapon. The accused was identified as Gyan Singh Silawat of Rasulia Pathan.
The police have registered a case under sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act and have started investigation to unearth the network of supply and demand.
Police have claimed that the miscreant was nabbed with a country-made pistol and cartridges which suggests that he was on his way to commit crime while the possibility of the accused to sell the country made pistol and cartridges could not be denied and it would be investigated.
Based on the confession, police have started investigation regarding the buyer and seller involved in the network.
During the investigation, police found that the nabbed accused had criminal record.
