A 72-year-old man who suffered from multiple health complications  died on Tuesday in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and the hospital authorities after making contact tracing  have asked  those persons  including the doctor and paramedics who  came in contact with him to go on home quarantine.

In fact, his swab test report received soon after death confirmed he was corona positive.

The deceased  from Hinjala area  was admitted in the DHH on May 21  following urinary tract infections.  During admission in the DHH, his swab was collected and sent for test. While his condition deteriorated he was referred  to the SCB Medical College and Hospital for better treatment .

During hospitalisation, his blood sample was sent to Mumbai suspecting a case of blood cancer.  After three days, he was sent back  to home. However, on Monday when he became serious he was again admitted in the DHH.

During treatment  he succumbed to the ailments on Tuesday.

After his death when his swab test report was received by the officials here, it confirmed  that he was corona positive.

This report created a ruckus among the staffers of the hospital who were involved in the treating the patient.

District Project Manager Anil Mohanty  besides confirming that his report was positive, also said the cremation for the body was conducted  as the protocol  given by the Health department.

Sub-Collector Nilu Mohapatra  said, "The case can't definitely   be  concluded as corona virus death, but  the virus  could be another factor  as he was suffering   from other complications. Since  the  report  came after his death, the cremation  of body was conducted as per  prescribed guidelines."
