Announcing its full support to the farmers' strike on September 25 against anti-agriculture Draconian laws, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab unit on Monday directed all its leaders and workers-volunteers to stand firm in this struggle.
The party has announced a program on September 24 to protest against these black laws by forming human chains across Punjab.
A delegation of MLAs and leaders, led by the Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Harpal Singh Cheema and Punjab in-charge Jarnail Singh (MLA), handed over a memorandum to the President through Punjab Governor and appealed not to approve the anti-agriculture laws.
Terming the coercion used by the ruling BJP to pass these agricultural laws as a blatant assassination of democracy, Cheema demanded immediate resignation of BJP MP and Union Minister Som Prakash from Hoshiarpur in favor of the farmers and warned to lay siege to the Union Minister's house if he did not resign.
