The State transport commissioner Deependra Kumar Chaudhari launched a Driver/Conductor databank portal (greencard.uk.gov.in/databank) and Online Passenger Vehicle Permit Scheme in Transport Commissioner Office here on Monday. According to deputy transport commissioner Sanat Kumar Singh, the database of drivers and conductors of commercial vehicles will be available at a single place with the help of this databank portal. He informed that this portal is integrated with the software Vahan and Sarathi due to which all the information will appear on the screen once the license number and registration number of the vehicle is fed to the system. For now, only the drivers and conductors of commercial passenger vehicles can register in this portal by July 31 but all kinds of vehicle operators will be able to register in the said portal in future, said Singh.
Besidses this, the online application and fee payment of passenger vehicle contract permit which is issued by the State transport authority also began from Monday. According to Singh, this portal will help to bring transparency in the work of the department besides limiting the crowd in the transport office while reducing the risk of Covid-19 contagion in the State.
