Chilika DFO arrested for disproportionate assets

Bhubaneswar: Chilika Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Alok Ranjan Hota was on Tuesday arrested by the Vigilance police on the charge of acquisition and possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The DFO has allegedly possessed disproportionate properties amounting over Rs 1 crore. On Monday, Vigilance teams had conducted raids simultaneously on his house at Dumduma in Bhubaneswar, three-storied building at Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar, a house at his native village Chasikhanda in Jagatsinghpur district and his residence-cum-office at Balugaon and relative’s house at Padampur village under the Balipatna police limits in Khordha district.

DGP visits Jajpur, Bhadrak, Keonjhar

Cuttack: DGP Abhay on Tuesday visited Jajpur, Bhadrak and Keonjhar districts and reviewed enforcement of corona guidelines by the districts’ police organisations. He interacted with field officers doing very good work and appreciated their performances. He issued appreciation certificates to the police corona warriors, who have promptly joined duties after recovering from Covid-19. He also reviewed many other issues, including investigation of cases. IG of Police, Eastern Range and senior police officers were present.

Soumya Ranjan Patnaik tests Covid +ve

Bhubaneswar: Khandapada MLA and editor of ‘Sambad’ Soumya Ranjan Patnaik has tested positive for Covid-19. Taking to Twitter, he said he came to know on Tuesday that he has tested positive. He further said his condition is stable and advised those who had come in contact with him last week to consult doctors. Earlier, Polasara MLA Srikant Sahu, Remuna MLA Sudhanshu Shekhar Parida and Salepur MLA Prasant Behera had tested Covid-19 positive.

OJEE online exam centres at Polytechnics, ITIs

Bhubaneswar: The Director of Technical Education and Training (DTET) on Tuesday wrote to the Principals of Polytechnics and ITIs in 16 districts seeking permission to open examination centres in the institutes for the upcoming Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) scheduled between September 9 and 15. The OJEE, to be conducted by the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), would be held through computer-based test (CBT).
