JPCC to celebrate I-Day and Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary

Following the instruction of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) has decided to celebrate the 74th anniversary of Independence Day on August 15 and 76th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna late Rajiv Gandhi on August 20.

JPCC Chief and Food Supply Minister, Rameshwar Oraon instructed all the party officials to ensure celebration of Independence Day and Birth Anniversary of Gandhi at block and district levels.

Oraon instructed all the district heads of the party by following the social distancing and ensured the participation of all Congressmen by successfully organizing the 76th birth anniversary program of late Rajiv Gandhi at the district and block level on August 20. At the same time, on this day, distribution of food kit among poor needy blood donation camps will be organised and a seminar centered on Rajiv Gandhi's vision through video conferencing will also be organised, he added.

Speaking about the importance to mark the days Oraon said, "We got our independence on August 15 after a long and historic movement under the leadership of the Indian National Congress. Our freedom struggle was based on the ideas of non-violence, satyagraha and non-cooperation. The centuries of freedom struggle inspired millions of people around the world and our long fight for freedom was a model. We have to carry the message of unity, sacrifice and collective struggle of our freedom struggle to the Congressmen in the difficult times of the global epidemic Covid-19."

"On August 20, 2020 is the 76th birth anniversary of our beloved leader late Rajiv Gandhi. His vision for youth, encouragement on science and technology, strengthening of Panchayati Raj was exemplary. His innovative efforts to promote information, technology and telecommunications have changed the lives of millions of youth. He had a special attachment with Jharkhand," said Oraon.

JPCC is organising various programmes on special days in the same sequence on August, 9 the party observed World Tribal Day in leadership of the JPCC Chief and other senior party officials at the party State Headquarter and all districts headquarters of the State.

Meanwhile JPCC Spokespersons, Alok Kumar Dubey and Rajesh Gupta said that due to the negligence of the electricity department and company KEI, a phased agitation is being launched to check the accidents happening in the State. In the same sequence, from August 13, the 'Pole Khol' movement will be started outside the house of the careless officers through social media, they added.
