Meet on ‘AI in Natural Language’ at KIIT

A five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Natural Language Processing’ organised virtually by The School of Computer Applications, KIIT University, was inaugurated on Thursday. The programme is sponsored by the AICTE under the ATAL scheme.

Inaugural session chief guest Prof Esaú Villatoro Tello, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Mexico, who is currently working at Idiap Research Institute, Martigny, Switzerland, spoke at length on the theme. He made a thorough analysis on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be utilised in natural language processing.

Prof Hrushikesha Mohanty, VC, KIIT, said researchers should solve real-world problem through their works. Prof Jnana Ranjan Mohanty, KIIT Registrar, emphasioed on collaborative research works. As India is a multilingual country, it needs collaborative works among faculties across the States, he said.

Prof Veena Goswami, Director, School of Computer Applications, urged  students to attend the FDP and apply knowledge gained in their research works.

During five-day FDP, 14 sessions would be taken by eminent resource persons from premier institutes like IIT Patna, Jadavpur University and industries like Microsoft, and IQVIA RDS from India.

Besides, it would have four resource persons from Mexico, Australia and Switzerland. Prof Esaú Villatoro Tello, is also a resource person.About 200 participants from over 24 states joined inaugural session. They included PG scholars, research scholars and faculties from NITs, IITs, IIITs.
