UD Secy issues directives for junction improvement

Tuesday, 07 July 2020 | PNS | Ranchi

Urban Development and Housing Department (UDHD) has stepped up its efforts to come up with a solution for frequent traffic jams on the roads of the State Capital. In this regard, on July 6, Department Secretary Vinay Kumar Choubey inspected the various junctions of Ranchi and issued several instructions.

During his visit, the Secretary closely studied the difficulties faced at the junctions and issued several instructions regarding improvement to the officials of Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company and the consultant company Aakar Abhinav.

All the routes leading up to the square from a distance of about 60 meters will be widened and strengthened. Directions were also given to make islands so that the left lane on all the routes can be made free. All obstructions coming in the middle including pre built police booths, toilets and poles will be shifted and a better route will be given to the junction’s geometry.

As per the directives the pavements will be made encroachment free for the pedestrians and integrated development of all the routes leading to the main square will be done. All the intersections will also be developed in a scientific manner and traffic will be completely operated through a signal system.

Choubey added an Intelligent Traffic Management System is being introduced in the City and its utility will only increase when the crossings are strengthened as most of the traffic snarls are usually at the intersections only. “If it is developed in a planned and scientific way then the problem of traffic jams will surely reduce. Once this experiment is successful, all the intersections of the City will also be developed on the same lines,” said Choubey.

The Department Secretary first visited Karamtoli Chowk followed by Judge Colony Chowk, Sahjanand Chowk, Argora Chowk, Siramtoli Chowk and AG Colony Chowk. During the inspection JUDICO Project Direction Technical Ramesh Kumar and General Manager Virendra Kumar were present with other officials.
