Acting on a direction of Child Welfare Committee and district Collector, a team led by Sub Collector Niranjan Behera on Friday shifted 35 inmates, including 15 girls of Patatalipanka based-child care institution (CCI) of Lutherna Mahila Samiti to Korua-basedPallishree CCI for ensuring their safety and security.
The localtehsildar and the Marshaghai PS IIC were in the team, who went to shiftthe inmates. According to official sources, the Marshaghai police have beenconducting investigation in a series of cases including rape, sexual abuse and minor torture cases pertaining to the Lutherna Mahila Samiti. So the office bearers are not turning up for duty in the organisation to evade arrest by leaving the inmates to fend for them.
There was no security and safety for the inmates of CCI. The CWC and the district Collector took it seriously and to ensure safety and security of the inmates, shifted the inmates. On Sunday, the district administration is going to shift 10 inmates of Old age home of Lutheran Mahila Samiti and will seal the organization, stated Sub Collector Behera.
Notably, on April 5, Chairperson of Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) Sandhyabati Pradhan had paid a visit to the CCI to conduct an inquiry related to a sexual exploitation issue.
