Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met a team of 21 children and young adults from the disadvantaged Chenchu tribal community who are being taken on an expedition to the Himalayas by running and cycling for the first time in their history.
The group of 21 children from Andhra Pradesh, who were on an excursion to Naimisharanya in Sitapur, believed to be the centre of mediation of 88,000 sages, Land of Lord Rama, Ayodhya and Varanasi, met CM Yogi at his official residence on Friday.
Despite having a busy schedule, Yogi interacted with the tribal children and also issued directives to the officials to ensure their security and that proper food was provided to them. He further gave instructions to make sure that all the children safely reached their destination.
The children will cover 15 states, 75 districts and over 9,000 kilometres on bicycles in the 150-day-long journey.
During their interaction with Yogi Adityanath, the children belonging to Chenchu tribe also recited the holy Gayatri Mantra following which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed sweets to them.
Throwing light on the poor condition of the tribals, the chief minister emphasised on the importance of connecting tribal people to the mainstream society to make use of their untapped energy.
Yogi Adityanath also praised the idea of helping the poor but talented athletes in exploring the outside world, and distributed tracksuits and cycles to the tribal children.
