CMRI to provide consultancy on Robotic Ortho Surgery

Kolkata-based CK Birla Hospitals -CMRI has introduced robotic ortho surgery for the first time in Eastern India, promising to cure patients suffering from knee related ailments. In order to spread the reach of the new technology, the hospital has decided to provide its consultancy to the patients of the city. 

Dr Rakesh Rajput, director-Department of Orthopaedics, CMRI, said that patients can contact Sai Centre at Bhalubasa to draw the benefit of this revolutionary technology. He is the first person in the eastern India to perform robotic ortho surgery.

“Robotic ortho surgery is a very accurate and effective way of knee replacement. People of the city can contact us to make the best use of the technology. It enables surgeons to deliver more predictable outcomes along with increased accuracy,” said Dr Rajput, while addressing a press meet.

Rajput said that CMRI has performed 100th robotics joint replacement surgery at Kolkata. The surgery is based on advanced computer technology with the experience of intelligence to enable precision and accuracy at the minutest level. It helps in achieving desirable results in the patient after the surgery.

“It is a state- of-art-technology which enables the surgeon to replace only the damaged part of the knee with absolute perfection, saving all the other normal structures of the joint. Patients can now receive treatments that enable fast recovery and quick discharge. Further, the Robotics-assisted system eliminates the possibilities of human error and ensures perfect alignment, leading to the longevity of the joint implant,” he said.

Dr Rajpt said: “ People in the city must come forward to take advantage of robotics-assisted joint replacement surgery. It preserves all the natural structures of the joint and offers them a huge advantage of immediate recovery, early discharge and minimal blood loss.”
