Banghali Pujhar, a resident of Dhamnilata village located in Dumka, is also a youth of a common vulnerable tribe of Jharkhand. He was living with his family in the midst of deprivation.

The annual income of his family was only Rs 25,000. Land is also very less. After completing high school education, Banghali left school due to the responsibility of his family members and the unavailability of resources.

Meanwhile, he got information about the skill development programme and Gurukul started by the then and current Chief Minister Hemant Soren in 2014. Someone told him that after training in different areas in Gurukul and after training, different companies definitely get work. He got admission in Gurukul and mastered heavy machinery operation and he is working on Rs 23,000 CTC in NOIDA.

Now, with the upbringing of his family, he is also bearing the expenses of studies of the younger brother. Baghali’s family is happy these days. Prosperity is seen on the faces of every member of this family.

Baghali has come to know the benefits of skill development. He now wants to go abroad as a skilled worker. The ambitious e-Gurukul scheme of the Welfare Department of the Government of Jharkhand is changing the economic picture of the rural areas of Jharkhand. Skilled youth like Baghali are changing the picture of their family through e-Gurukul and at the same time, other youth are also being encouraged for skill training.

The youth of Jharkhand, especially those belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and General Classes, are being trained for skill development and getting 100 per cent placement. The Government of Jharkhand is implementing an ambitious scheme to impart skill training to youth under the e-Gurukul project across the State.

The Department of Welfare has tied up with Pan IIT Alumini Reach for India for the successful operation of the scheme. Currently 23 centres of e-Gurukul are running. It will soon be expanded to Sahibganj and Lohardaga in the State. Today, 28 Kalyan Gurukuls, eight Nursing Colleges and one Culinary and Manufacturing ITI College are also being operated by the Welfare Department, Government of Jharkhand and Pan IIT Alumni Reach for India Foundation.

Youths and young women are made skilled in various trades in e-Gurukul centers like electrical, construction, logistics, driving, textiles etc. After skill training, skilled youth get 100 per cent placement.

In many companies of the country and abroad, skilled youth of Jharkhand are doing jobs and improving the standard of living of their families. In this way, these skilled youth will contribute to the development of the state in the coming times, as well as skilled human resources will also be ready in Jharkhand.

More than 8,000 skilled human resources have been demanded from e-Gurukul centers in the year 2021–22. For this, youth will be given admission in various courses to make them skillful and after the residential training programme, on the day of passing out, the appointment letter will be given.

During the financial year 2019-20, more than 7000 youths received training in Kalyan Gurukuls out of which 2,332 youths are from minority category, 3,542 from Scheduled Tribe, 226 from Scheduled Caste, 1,019 from OBC and 75 other categories. In total, 5,576 youths of Jharkhand have been placed in various organisations of the country.

“Our Government is committed to providing employment to the youth of Jharkhand. Necessary measures are being taken to prepare skilled human resources in the State,” Chief Minister Hemant Soren said.
