First transgender Kathak dancer Devika gives performance online

The first Transgender Kathak dancer Devika gave a sponteneous performance online on Thursday. The event was organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Bhopal.

It is to be noted that ICCR Bhopal is organizing an online performance "SUR TAAL" under Kala Vishwa - A Special Campaign of Horizon Series Programme. On Thursday Devika (Devendra S. Mangla Mukhi - Jaipur) gave a Kathak Dance performance. This performance was live on facebook page of ICCR Bhopal.

The fast footwork yet maintaining the purity of classical dance moves and meeting with the rhythmic understanding, Kathak maestro took the hearts away of the audience.

Devika is one of the very famous first transgender Indian classical dance artist. You have performed at internationally or nationally acclaimed stages and festivals.

You being a transgender Kathak dance artist you are doing very well in Indian classical dance and have trained with internationally renowned exponents such as Smt. You are also DD Doordarshan Kendra, Bhopal "B" Grade Artist. You have been honored by the Ministry of Culture and Sanskar Bharati.

You have expertise in using movements, gestures and body language to depict dance routines. Devendra S Mangalamukhi has been conducting workshops on classical dance for transgenders, virtual webinars and lectures etc. You are renowned transgender Indian classical dance Kathak artist and curator, promoter. The artist has been working for inclusion and diversity for the transgender community.

Such as - creating separate transgender window in each government, hospital of Rajasthan, unemployment allowance for transgender graduates of Rajasthan, 2% reservation in government and plots for transgender community etc.

She has given her splendid performance of Kathak dance on many occasions in different provinces of India (Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka etc.).
