SAIL, MTI in association with National HRD Network (NHRDN), Ranchi Chapter organized UDAAN: The Business Leadership Quiz for Corporates at MTI. The preliminary round of the competition was held on November 28 and 30, 2021, the zonal finals on 8th, 9th, 13th and 15th December, 2021 and the National Grand Finale was held on December 19 late evening.
UDAAN organized at MTI since 2011, had an overwhelming response from around 50 corporate houses nominating more than 360 participants this year. The event was organized in the online mode which was highly appreciated by the participants as well as the audience. Organizations from the domains of Information Technology (IT) & IT Enabled Services, Banking, Financial Services and Insurance, Manufacturing, Steel & Mining sectors etc. participated in the quiz. Top six scorers from each of the North, East, West and South zones competed with one another in the zonal finals. Winners & Runners up of each zone qualified for the National Finals held on 19th December, 2021 late evening.
The National Winner of the UDAAN 2021, Jayakanthan R from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) took away the cash award of Rs 50,000, which was sponsored by M/ s Hexagon. The National Runners-Up, Ayush Awasthi from Ernest & Young took away the cash award of Rs 35,000 that was sponsored by M/s M D India.
The other finalists of UDAAN 2021 were the Zonal Winners and Runners up who were previously selected through four Zonal Rounds. The winners and runners Up of Zonal round were awarded a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. The Zonal Winners and Runner-Up from each zone were Rabi Sankar Saha (Capgemini) & Sampad Mishra (SAIL-RSP) from East Zone ; Shantanu Sharma (IIM-A) & Rajarshi Chanda (Capgemini) from West Zone, Ayush Awasthi ( EY) & S.W. Kispotta (SAIL- BSL) from North Zone , Jayakanthan R from TCS & Kapinjal Chowdhury (TCS) from South Zone. The event was organized in partnership with NTPC, Hexagon, MD India, SMS Group, Tata Communications and UPRRNL & Sarvesh Refractories.
Team UDAAN led by Dr. Kamakashi Raman ED (HRD), SAIL & President NHRDN Ranchi played a key role in the successful organization of the competition. The guest Speaker for the event was S V Nathan, Partner & Chief Talent Officer, Deloitte & National President of NHRDN.
