MGM Hospital doctor shoots self

A junior doctor of MGM Medical College and Hospital ( MGM) Dr. Amit Kumar, made a suicidal attempt  at his residence near Adityapur S-type- 81 under Seraikela Kharswan district on Thursday. He shot himself in the head from his own revolver. Dr Kumar was rushed to Tata Main Hospital ( TMH) CCU where his condition is said to be critical.

Twenty nine year old Dr Kumar was working as a junior doctor at MGM Hospital as well as he also used to attend patients at Rajasthan Seva Sadan Hospital.

“We are investigating the incident and it is too early to speak on what led to such a drastic step by the victim. As per our initial probe it seems to be a case of suicide attempt. We are looking at all other aspects too. The arm he used was his own licensed gun. We came to know that the doctor was engaged and was scheduled to be married in November this year,” said a police official. He said that the police are waiting for the patient to recover so that they can record his statement.   

Dr Amit has completed his medical education at MGM College and is working as a junior doctor at MGM Hospital. He also used to attend patients at Rajasthan Seva Sadan.

According to a source, the incident took place when he was taking tea with his mother and younger brother. Out of a sudden he took the revolver and started behaving like a child. He made three firings out of which he got shot from his own revolver in the third attempt.
