MPTM exhibits Gond paintings

An exhibition of paintings of Gond community painter Kaushal Prasad Tekam are being put up under 'Shalaka 18'. The exhibition is being displayed in 'Likhandra Gallery' of Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum.

The 'Shalaka 18' painting exhibition  will continue from October 3 to 30, 2021. The paintings displayed in the painting exhibition are for sale which can be purchased from the painter. In the conversation, painter Kaushal Prasad Tekam told that 26 paintings made by him have been displayed in the exhibition. He has been painting continuously for about 15 years. He said that in his childhood, he used to play in the forest with his companions and sometimes go for grazing cows and goats. In sports and games, the game of making toys from wet clay on the banks of a puddle-river also started playing. From time to time, the cooperation of mother and sisters in the painting of the house also kept them connected with their traditions. From there, Kaushal also learned to make dhigna from his mother, which he also used in his paintings from time to time. When Patangarh was developing as a Kalagram, at that time senior Gond painter Anand Singh Shyam organized a painting workshop with the aim of training the youth in the village.
