The President of India has appointed Dr Justice S Muralidhar as the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.
A notification by the Department of Justice in Ministry of Law and Justice on Thursday said Justice Muralidhar to be the Chief Justice with effect from the date he assumes charge.
He will replace Justice Rafiq Mohammad, who has been transferred as the Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice.
Earlier, Justice Muralidhar was a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He started practising law in Chennai in 1984 and had shifted to New Delhi in 1987, where he primarily practised in the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court. He was then elevated as a judge of the Delhi Hi Court in May 2006.
