No vials of vaccine stolen, says Official

Sunday, 07 March 2021 | Staff Reporter | BEMETARA

Bemetara district Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Satish Sharma said on Saturday denied that nine vials (90 doses) of Covishield Vaccine against Covid-19 have been stolen at the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Navagarh in Chhattisgarh.

He described as    "misleading" and "baseless" reports about the theft circulating in the social media.

In an official statement, Dr Sharma said that he along with the District Immunization Officer conducted an inspection and stock verification at the Cold Chain Point at Navagarh and the District Vaccine Store at Bemetara.

It was found that nine vials were found extra at the Bemetara store and that by mistake, on February 26, they were not given to the Community Health Centre at Navagarh, leading to the confusion.

Dr Sharma said there is no possibility of theft of vaccine.
