Love never changes, no matter how many generations do. This message was given through a play ‘Romeo and Juliet in the Smart Cities of Contemporary india’, staged at Shaheed Bhavan. The play marked the second day of 15 Rang Mahotsav on Thursday.

Directed by renowned playwright Saurabh Anant, the play was beautifully performed by the artists of Vihaan Drama Works.

Romeo Juliet in Smart Cities of Contemporary India revolves around two young lovers, Mridul and Vaibhavi, who work at call centers and lives on rent separately. Their landlords do not allow the presence of any other male/female in their space. So they meet-up at Mridul’s room secretly. Meanwhile, Bhole Bhakt Mandal, a fringe group, seeks revenge from Mridul over a pity dispute. They break the door open and start harassing them in the name of religion and morality. After severe mental, physical and emotional torture, both decide to take a step, which is going to change their life forever.

The prevailing conditions of the country, the ill elements of the society and the old age traditions stopped the lovers to meet. With rib-tickling comedy scenes the play tried to showcase that even in morden times people are living with stereotype mentality. The hypocrisy of the society held them back to meet and make a decision which is an eye-opener.

The play was wonderfully staged and the audience were awestruck with the impactful performance of the artists.
