Yogi storms Mamata bastion

Wednesday, 03 March 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

Storming the bastion of the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that West Bengal, which once led the nation, was now facing a lawless situation.

"West Bengal has always been a land of cultural nationalism in India. It has been the land of revolution for the country's freedom struggle. Today, the anarchical situation in West Bengal created by TMC, CPM and Congress over the years has hurt the entire country," Yogi said on Tuesday.

Launching his West Bengal assembly election campaign from Malda, which is considered a minority-dominated district of North Bengal, Yogi Adityanath said that every worker of the party had come here to connect to the Bengali brothers and sisters to re-establish the identity of Bengal and carry forward a new change through this.

Attacking the TMC for promoting cow slaughter in the state, Yogi said that Durga Puja gets prohibited in Bengal today while cow slaughter has been taking place unabatedly.

"People's sentiments have been hurt through cow smuggling but the state government remains silent. Now there is an attempt to ban the slogan of 'Jai Shri Ram' and the BJP workers are being attacked," the UP CM said.

He also assured the people that once the BJP government was formed in West Bengal, a ban on cow slaughter would follow within 24 hours.

On keeping farmers unaware of the schemes launched by the Central government for their welfare and growth, Yogi said that the party which could not work for the well-being and safety of the poor, the farmers and the women had no right to remain in power.

Warning Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee against spreading misinformation about Ayodhya, Yogi said: "I would like to tell the Bengal government that there was a government in Uttar Pradesh that used to fire bullets at Ram devotees in Ayodhya. You have seen the fate of that government. Now it is the TMC government's turn in Bengal."

Yogi also questioned Mamata why the Central government schemes were not implemented in West Bengal. "On my way from Bagdogra to Malda, I could not find any concrete house. The TMC is afraid that if it gives benefits of the schemes of the Center then the people will not vote for TMC," he said.

Giving a glimpse of the development model of UP, Yogi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi always dreamt of providing a roof to every homeless person and to fulfill his dream he made every possible effort and more than 40 lakh houses had been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in UP.

Similarly, in West Bengal, people are not getting the benefits of Ayushman Bharat, including health insurance of Rs. 5 lakh which is applicable all over India, he added.

Yogi said the UP government had effectively controlled the spread of encephalitis which had taken the lives of more than thousands of kids over the years. "Today, this life-threatening disease has been completely eradicated from the state," he added.

Yogi said 25- 30 years ago youths used to come to Bengal from UP and north India for work but now people from Bengal were migrating to UP and north India for work.

Describing the incident of a video in which an 85-year-old mother was allegedly beaten by miscreants, Yogi said that her video and her situation brought tears in his eyes.

"Enough is enough. On May 2, when our government will come into power, these goons who are roaming free in West Bengal will be begging for their lives," Yogi said.

West Bengal will go to polls in eight phases starting from March 27. The counting of votes will be taken up on May 2.
