EC proceeds with UP polls plan, provides 150 CAPF companies

To ensure free and fair elections in Uttar Pradesh, Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday provided 150 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to assist the local police in maintaining law and order.

Prashant Kumar, ADG law and order, said the above force was sanctioned by the Central Government in the first phase so that adequate deployment could be immediately made for managing law and order in the State.

He claimed that among the above 150 companies of CAPF, 50 companies are of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 30 companies each are of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Shashatra Seema Bal (SSB), 20 companies each are of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). He claimed that the Central forces will assist the local police in all kinds of law and order duties, besides taking out flag march, etc.

Kumar said the maximum of four companies of CAPF will be provided to Prayagraj, while three companies of CAPF will be provided to Agra, Aligarh, Pratapgarh, Bareilly, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Meerut, Saharanpur, Gazipur, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Ballia, Lucknow, Varanasi and Kanpur.

Similarly two companies of CAPF will be provided to Gautam Buddh Nagar, Mathura, Mainpuri, Ferojabad, Etah, Fatehpur, Badaun, Sahajahanpur, Bijnor, Rampur, Deoria, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Bahraich, Gonda, Etawah, Kannauj, Jhansi, Hardoi, Raebareli, Unnao, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Barabanki, Ambedkarnagar, Ghaziabad, Bulundshahr, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Chandauli, Mau, Mirzapur, and Sonebhadra. The remaining districts will be provided one company each.       

Meanwhile continuing to facilitate promotion to employees as per the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Home Department on Friday released the promotion order on employees of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). According to an official communiqué, promotions have been given by the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board to 1588 personnel working in PAC. Giving the above information, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Avnish Kumar Awasthi said that 1588 personnel posted as Head Constable in Uttar Pradesh PAC Service Cadre have been promoted to the post of Platoon Commander/Sub Inspector Armed Police.

Giving information, Director General of Police, UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, Rajkumar Vishwakarma said that in future, the process of promotion from constable to the post of head constable is also under process and soon an order in this regard will be released.EC goes ahead with poll preparation, asks for 150 company of central forces for the first phase of UP polls (Lucknow)
