Chhattisgarh Police on Sunday arrested a man for killing a woman after branding her a witch ('tonhi') on suspicion of practicing black magic on his wife in Kabirdham district.
Kabirdham Additional Superintendent of Police Manisha Thakur Rawate identified him as Parmeshwar Paraste.
The deceased was Sakhina Bai, a widow, of Daihantola village.
On Monday night, he beat Sakhina Bai to death with a wooden stick and then set her body ablaze.
The accused believed that she was a witch and spoiled his married life and also affected his wife's health. He was arrested.
A court sent him to jail.
