NPU VC reviews preparations for Oct 14 Convocation

Wednesday, 28 September 2022 | M F AHMAD | DALTONGANJ

Vice chancellor of the Nilamber Pitamber university Dr Ram Lakhan Singh today reviewed the progress of the 15 committees set up for the October 14 convocation in the YSNM college Daltonganj.

Spokesperson Dr K C Jha, who is the Proctor also said the VC has asked the heads of these 15 different committees to expedite their respective works.

Sources said it is the Souvenir committee which is struggling not for any laxity of its own but for want of response to the Souvenir from the VVIPs.

A senior member of the Souvenir committee Dr Bimal Kumar Singh said, "The university had sent its request letter to the VVIPs like the president of India, vice president of India, Prime Minister,  Speaker Lok Sabha, State Chief Minister, State Governor, HTE minister, secretary HTE etc but till date there has come no response or message from these VVIPs for the Souvenir."

Sources said the NPU has pinned much hope on the illustrious message from the president of India Droupadi Murmu who, when she was the Governor cum Chancellor here in Jharkhand  had graced the maiden convocation of this university in the capacity of the Chancellor in the year 2017.

Dr Singh said "The university feels grateful to our Palamu MP V D Ram who has been kind enough to send his message to be incorporated into the Souvenir."

University spokesperson Dr K C Jha said "Every committee is important for the convocation in its own way but the committee that holds immense relevance is the gown committee."

Jha said around 200 gowns may be in use for the convocation right from 130 gold medalists to 21 PhD recipients besides host of other VVIPs. Students who will have the gown will be free to take it home, said Jha as the university has found its storage with it most cumbersome for years.

The review meeting was attended byPro Vice Chancellor Dr Deep Narayan Yadav,  registrar Dr Rakesh Kumar and others.
