Wednesday, 10 August 2022 | PNS | Lucknow

The Uttar Pradesh government, through the Mukhyamantri Bal Sewa Yojana, has so far rehabilitated nearly 12,358 children who have lost either or both their parents to COVID-19.

A financial aid of approximately Rs 4.94 crore is being released every month by the government to support these children.

The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for children who lost either of their parents, or both, to COVID-19 from March 2020 onwards. Under the Mukhyamantri Bal Sewa Yojana (Covid), the children receive Rs 4,000 per month till the age of 18 years. The scheme covers every minor of the family, and they are also given a tablet after completing the board exam.

Besides, 10,264 non-Covid orphans are being provided financial aid of Rs 2.56 crore every month under the Mukhyamantri Bal Sewa Yojana (non-Covid).

A sum of Rs 2,500 per month per child is given through the scheme till the minor attains the age of 18 years.

Empowerment and protection of women and children and ensuring their wholesome development in a safe and secure environment has been among the top priorities of the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh ever since it took over for the first time in 2017.
