The Swami Vivekananda Airport here will add one more facility for travellers as a third aero-bridge underwent trial on Thursday, Airport Director Rakesh Ranjan Sahay said.
Officials of the Airports Authority of India, Indigo Airlines, operations and fire departments and aircraft maintenance engineers approved the facility after the trial, he said.
As the next step, the trial documents will be submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for final approval.
Sahay hoped that within the next fortnight, the aero-bridge would be opened to the public. Aerobridge boarding and deboarding is especially convenient for the aged and to people with reduced mobility.
