An angry Rs chacha’ is now ready to take on his Rs bhatija’ in the municipal elections slated in early November this year as Shivpal Singh Yadav has now decided to challenge Akhilesh Yadav in the urban civic bodies polls.
Sources claim that Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) will field its candidates in the elections of mayor and municipal bodies to be held in November in Uttar Pradesh. This indicates a growing chasm between the chacha and the bhatija.
“Shivpal Yadav has told his party workers that due to the neglect of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, he would soon activate the PSPL organisation and contest the elections of mayor and municipal bodies. He has even asked the party workers who wish to contest these elections to give their names,†PSPL the leader said.
Shivpal Yadav has also given an indication that now he would not go back to the Samajwadi Party.
“Now he will strengthen the PSPL and fight a political battle against Akhilesh Yadav,†the sources said.
During the last two years, Shivpal Yadav has been holding a series of meetings with his party workers in the Lucknow office of PSPL.
Shivpal Yadav told party workers in one of the meetings that before the assembly elections, former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had come to his house to persuade him to fight the polls together.
“I believed in Akhilesh and contested the election on Samajwadi Party ticket. During the campaign, Akhilesh did not entrust me with any responsibility. And after I won the election, I was not invited to any party meeting. In such a situation, the only option left before PSPL is to field candidates in the municipal elections,†he told the party workers.
Shivpal said that he would soon revive PSPL and many other small parties would also join him. He, however, did not disclose which small parties would join PSPL.
Shivpal Yadav also clarified that he would vote in favour of Droupadi Murmu in the presidential election.
“Akhilesh never asked me to vote for a particular presidential candidate, nor was I called in the meeting held by him. When the National Democratic Alliance called me to a banquet and asked for my votes, I agreed to support (Murmu). Now I will not go back on my promise,†Shivpal Yadav said.
