Yogi govt to launch Matribhumi Yojana from Oct 2

Friday, 23 September 2022 | PNS | Lucknow

The Uttar Pradesh government will launch the Matribhumi Yojana on October 2 to help people connect with their roots.

Under this scheme, if a person wants to construct a community building, hospital, school, common service centre in the name of his or her ancestor in the village, he/she will have to pay 60 per cent of the total cost while the rest will be invested by the government. The said building would be in the name of the person’s ancestor, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said.

While virtually addressing the opening ceremony of Kisan Mela and Rural Development Exhibition organised by Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Smriti Mahotsav Samiti in Mathura, the chief minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party was celebrating seva pakhwara as September 17 was the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, September 25 was the birthday of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay and October 2 of Mahatma Gandhi.

“Keeping this in mind, many programmes have been designed. High speed internet and free Wi-Fi services will be introduced in many villages. We are going to connect every gram panchayat with better internet service. Once done, the villagers will get 243 types of services related to banks, police stations and tehsils,” he said.

The chief minister said the economy of India was rural based and therefore the introduction of new technology in the farm sector was mandatory. He said the emphasis should be on increasing production and reducing the cost of cultivation.

“Farmers are getting the benefit of PM Bima Yojana, PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana, and minimum support price (MSP). For the first time the farmers did not take loans from moneylenders as an arrangement was made to give Rs 6,000 annually to the farmers from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi,” he said.

In UP, 2.60 crore farmers are getting its benefit.

Yogi said that the double-engine government was working to bring a change in the lives of farmers as the BJP governments at the Centre and in state were fulfilling the vision of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay.

“The BJP governments are providing roof to every poor through PM Awas Yojana. Toilet is a symbol of women's dignity. Providing drinking water to every household through Har Ghar Nal Yojana is also an undertaking to enhance the resolutions of Pt Upadhyay,” he said.
