2 member team of SDTR arrives Garhwa to contain leopard

Tuesday, 24 January 2023 | M F AHMAD | DALTONGANJ

Assistant ranger Srinivas Sen and rescue handler Ravi Singh of Sanjay Dubri tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh have arrived in Garhwa and have joined the man animal conflict expert Nawab Shafath Ali Khan and IFS officers as part of drive to contain the leopard which has so far killed 3 children.

Mahavir Pandey, ranger of the Sanjay Dubri tiger reserve in MP speaking to this correspondent on phone on Monday today said our men would find out the nature and texture of the automatic cages being used here to trap the leopard into the cage.

The local forest administration has taken elaborate measures to contain the leopard but success has eluded it so far.

Hopes have brightened up following the arrival of the 2 member team of the Sanjay Dubri tiger reserve in MP here as these people back at MP have been a success in containing an identical leopard there which had killed two children there and was as aberrant there as this lone adult leopard is in Garhwa district now.

Sources said as this is the first day of this MP based tiger reserve team to be in Garhwa not much is expected of it but after a couple of days everyone would like to know about this leopard.

However ranger Mahavir Pandey has cautioned that it is never easy to get a leopard into the cage as it is time taking and a very patient wait is needed  for leopard to get into the cage since this animal is highly cunning to dodge the cage.
