An attempt-to-murder accused attacked a five-member police team with a sharp weapon when it went to arrest him in the Nilgiri area of Baleswar district on Friday.
The accused was identified as Padmalochan Patra, a resident of Jamudihi village under the Nilgiri police station.
As per reports, the incident occurred at Jamudihi when the police team reached the village to nab the accused, who was wanted for trying to kill a person. Spotting the cops in front of his house, Patra suddenly attacked them, leaving them injured.
However, the cops managed to overpower and arrest the accused. Later, the injured cops were shifted to a hospital in Nilgiri.
A case was registered against the accused and further investigation was on, police said.
