A two-day 56th Rolling Mills Operating Committee Meeting was held at United Club, Jamshedpur from 16th to 17th March, 2023. The theme of the meeting is "Performance Improvement of Long & Flat Rolling Mills"
It was held under the aegis of Rolling Mills Operating Committee (RMOC) comprising experts from different rolling mills of steel plants including SAIL, Tata Steel, RINL, Tata Steel LP, JSW, JSPL, Mukand, JSHL, AM/NS, NMDC Steel, Vendant ESL and MECON. It was attended by 105 delegates from the above organisations with 47 presentations in the meeting. RDCIS, SAIL played the secretariat role in this meeting, with TATA Steel as the host.
Chaitanya Bhanu, Vice President (Steel Manufacturing), Tata Steel, Jamshedpur joined the inauguration function as the Chief Guest. He emphasized on the application of Industry 4.0 systems like wireless networks, cloud computing, machine learning and artificial intelligence for improved operation of rolling mills.
Welcome address of the inaugural session was delivered by Shri Ajay Kumar Jha, Chief, CRM, Tata Steel, Jamshedpur and Leader, Organizing Committee. Dr. Sushant Rath, General Manager & Head (Flat Rolling & Tribology), SAIL-RDCIS, Ranchi and Secretary, RMOC presented the secretary's report in the inaugural session. A vote of thanks was proposed by Ranjay Kumar Singh, Chief TSCR, Tata Steel, Jamshedpur and Alternate Leader of the Organizing Committee. Purnanand Pathak, Chief General Manager (Rolling Technology), SAIL-RDCIS, Ranchi was the chief guest of the concluding session. He reviewed more than 25 recommendations for implementations in different rolling mills across India. He emphasized more interaction among the members for solving problems of rolling mills by rich experiences of one another. The participants will also visit rolling mills of Tata Steel, Jamshedpur.
