Red alert sounded in Punjab in view of R-Day celebrations

Chandigarh:  A red alert has been sounded across Punjab on Wednesday to ensure peaceful celebrations of Republic Day 2023 in the border state.  DGP Gaurav Yadav, reviewing the security arrangements with all the Commissioners of Police and the Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), asked them to ensure foolproof security arrangements in their concerned jurisdictions. He also asked all the Station House Officers (SHOs) and Gazzeted Officers to remain in the field till the culmination of the Republic Day event.  Senior officers from Chandigarh have also been deputed to review security arrangements in important districts of the State and additional forces have also been deployed at the sensitive pockets, said the DGP.
 
Hry IPR DG launches Smart Solar Hub at Panjab University

Chandigarh:  Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Haryana, Dr Amit Agrawal on Wednesday launched the ‘Smart Solar Hub startup’ started by Ishank Bansal and Arjun Mittal, two students of University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University.  Launching the startup named Envinova of Solar Energy, Dr Agrawal said, “Today is the time of startups and along with jobs, the youth should focus more on self-employment. There are immense employment opportunities in areas like solar energy and e-commerce.”  He said that Haryana is at the third position in the country in terms of startups. Out of 60,000 new startup companies, 5,000 companies are in Haryana, which is 12 percent.  

Chandigarh Mayor flags off cattle catching vehicles

Chandigarh: Aiming to make the city free from stray cattle, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has added three more cattle catching vehicles in the fleet of machinery in the MCC. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh and Anindita Mitra, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh on Wednesday flagged off the three new cattle-catching vehicles from MCC office premises, Sector 17, Chandigarh. These vehicles have been purchased with the hydraulic system at a cost of Rs. 52.5 lakhs.

 

Chandigarh Smart City launches Phase III of largest Public Bike Sharing Project

 

Chandigarh: The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT

Chandigarh Banwarilal Purohit on Wednesday launched the Public Bike Sharing System Phase III adding 1,250 more Bicycles at 155 new docking stations to the earlier fleet. The Project of Chandigarh Smart City was started in Chandigarh in December 2020 with a Pilot Phase

with 250 bicycles and 25 docking stations, followed by Phase I in August 2021 with 1250 bicycles and 155 docking stations. The second phase of project began in February 2022, with the addition of 1,250 new bicycles to the fleet. 3750 bicycles are now available at 465 docking stations across the city with the launch of Phase III. Users can pick up a cycle for Rs. 10 for half an hour from any of the docking stations, while the charge drops to Rs. 5 per half an hour for those with annual membership of Rs. 500. The bicycles can be used after registering on the Smart Bike App.

 

Hry CM writes to the Union Minister for issuing a special commemorative postage stamp on Lord Parshuram

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister, during a recently held state-level programme of Lord Parshuram Mahakumbh made several announcements, which are now taking a particle shape. After notifying the setting up of a medical college in the name of Lord Parshuram in Kaithal, now Khattar has written a demi-official letter to the Union Minister of Communications, Ashwini Vaishnaw to issue appropriate directions to the Department of Posts to consider issuing a special Commemorative Postage Stamp in the name of Lord Parshuram, known to be the sixth incarnation among the Dashavatara of Lord Vishnu in Hinduism.
