Haryana to provide loans to 1L families for self-employment

Chandigarh: Terming the Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana as Haryana Government’s unique scheme, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said that its aim is to provide self-employment to poor families to make them financially self-reliant by making loans available through banks. “For this, the fourth phase of Antyodaya Rozgar Melas will be organized soon, where representatives of concerned government departments as well as banks will be present and loans will be made available for self-employment,” he said. “A separate provision of Rs 5,000 crore will be made to provide loans to one lakh Antyodaya families for self-employment,” he added.

 

Min directs PSPCL to immediately provide fly ash for road projects

Chandigarh: Taking step forward towards reducing pollution in the state and saving farm topsoil, Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Friday directed the officials of PSPCL to immediately provide fly ash of thermal plants for ongoing road projects in the state. The Minister, presiding over the meeting of PSPCL and NHAI officials, said that about 400 lakh tonnes of fly ash lying in the state’s thermal plants and its timely disposal will get relief from pollution, besides shunning the trend of digging topsoil from nearby fields for road projects.

 

Hry Govt employees to get medical reimbursement for ayurvedic treatment

Ambala: Haryana Health and AYUSH Minister Anil Vij on Friday announced that the State Government employees will get reimbursement for Ayurvedic medicines treatment besides allopathic medicine. “Like allopathic medicines, now Ayurvedic medicines will also be reimbursed, I signed the file on Thursday,” he said, while addressing as the chief guest during 75 lakh Surya Namaskar Abhiyan, a state level programme organized at Ambala Cantt.

 

FM holds meeting with VCs of Govt Universities, seeks suggestions

Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema held a meeting with the Vice-Chancellors of the state’s government universities to seek their budgetary requirements. He assured them that the State Government is committed to strengthening the state’s government universities and colleges. VCs have been asked to finalize their budgetary requirements while keeping in mind that justice should be done to every single penny of the people of Punjab.

 

Bajwa slams AAP for not issuing funds under Aashirwad

Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader and the Leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday rebuked AAP Government for its “deliberate attempt” to stop issuing the funds under Shagun Scheme (now Aashirwad). Citing media reports, Bajwa said that Government has been receiving thousands of files from those, who were asking for benefits of the same scheme. But, “it has turned a blind eye to them. Since AAP got hold of power in the state in March 2022, it hasn't issued a single rupee under this scheme,” he said.

 

Work on Max Hospital Mohali new building starts

Mohali: The construction on the new building of Max Hospital, Mohali, involving Rs 400 crore investment, commenced with a ground-breaking ceremony on Friday. The new building, adjacent to the existing one, will house 170 beds. On completion of the project by the end of Q3, 2024, the hospital bed capacity will go up to 400 beds from the existing 231 thus making it one of the largest private state-of-the-art medical institutions in the Tri-city.

 

Punjab Govt to spend Rs 7.77 cr on equipments to improve Ludhiana’s sanitation system

Chandigarh: Punjab Local Government Minister Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar on Friday said that the Punjab Government has decided to spend approximately Rs 7.77 crore on the supply of equipments to improve the sanitation system of Ludhiana city. “Punjab Government is continuously making all out efforts to provide basic facilities, clean and pollution-free environment to the people of the state,” he added.

 

Punjab’s WSSD to organize first state-level online ‘Janta Darbar’ of on Feb 6

Chandigarh: Punjab Government will organize first-of-its-kind online ‘Janta Darbar’ (Department of Water Supply and Sanitation) on February 6 from 11.30 am to 2 pm. “If the residents of state’s villages are facing any problem regarding supply of clean water and sanitation or they want to file a complaint, they can register their complaints online. In the ‘Janta Darbar’, grievances would be heard by Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa. Department’s all senior officers and district officers would also be present with the Minister,” said a spokesperson.

 

Punjab VB arrests suspended EO’s accomplice accused in disproportionate assets case

Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Friday arrested a colonizer Ashu Goyal, an accomplice of Zirakpur’s suspended Executive Officer (EO) Girish Verma, for conniving with the later to amass huge wealth than his known sources of income. Spokesperson said that after an enquiry, a case under sections 13(1)(b) of Prevention of Corruption Act and 120-B of IPC was registered against accused Girish Verma, his wife Sangeeta Verma, and son Vikas Verma; and nominated two accomplices — Ashu Goyal and Gourav Gupta — for helping the accused EO to invest his ill-gotten money in the properties.
