A Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) jawan allegedly committed suicide with his service weapon in Kanker district, police said on Sunday.
Constable Chandrasekhar Yadav (36) of the CAF’s 15th battalion shot himself dead with an Insas rifle on Saturday late night when he was on duty at Halba police post, Kanker Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel said.
His colleagues rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
Yadav hailed from Dhamtari district.
The reason behind such an extreme step is yet to be known.
Further probe is underway.
