Caught in compromising position, minor girl kills grandmother in Mainpuri

Friday, 17 March 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

A minor girl brutally stabbed her aged grandmother to death after being caught in compromising position with her lover in Mainpuri.

The lover also helped the girl in the murder before slipping out of the house on the fateful day. Surprisingly, the girl tried to go scot free by not informing anyone about the killing and later also mourned the death of her grandmother. She, however, fell in a police trap after the cops suspected some insider's work in the killing and with the help of the girl's mobile and found that she had called her lover to her house on the fateful day.

The cops took the girl and her lover in custody and also recovered the vegetable knife used in the brutal murder.

Reports said that Sharda Devi lived with the family members in Killi village under Bevar police station of Mainpuri. Her minor granddaughter Kavita (name changed) was having an affair with a youth. At midnight on Tuesday, Sharda Devi woke up to drink water. When she passed Kavita’s room, she heard the whisper of someone else in the room. As she entered inside to enquire about the matter, she was shocked to see Kavita in a compromising position with a youth.

After being caught, as her grandmother left the room, Kavita went to the kitchen and brought the knife and later with the help of her lover, she murdered Sharda Devi. Later her lover escaped from the house and Kavita went to sleep in her room.

On Wednesday morning, when Sharda did not come out of the room, the family members went to enquire and were shocked to find her lying in a pool of blood. In the meantime, Kavita also reached the room and started crying to show that she was shocked by the murder of her grandmother.

The family members called the police. The cops sent the body for post-mortem and started the investigation. The cops came to the conclusion that the woman was killed by some insider as the doors were found locked from inside.

Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said that they recovered a vegetable-cutting knife which was used in the murder and later was kept in the kitchen of the house. He said that when they checked the call details record of the family members, they found that Kavita had made some calls to a youth living in Shahjahanpur and that the location of the mobile of the youth was in the same area where the killing took place.

He said that when they grilled Kavita regarding the call and also picked up the youth, they both broke down and confessed to killing Sharda as she had caught them in a compromising position.

Meanwhile, a man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly killing his wife and their three-year-old daughter after she objected to his extra-marital affair in Sardhana area of Meerut.

The accused, identified as Ashish Kumar (38), initially claimed that his wife Jyoti (35) and daughter Bhavya had slipped into a water body and drowned, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Anirudh Singh said.

However, a police investigation revealed that Kumar killed his wife by beating her with a stick and smothered his daughter. He also threw their bodies separately in a canal and the Hindon river, the SP said.

The accused had informed his in-laws on the phone that Jyoti and Bhavya had drowned. The Sardhana police said to hide his affair, Ashish also tried to misguide the police, claiming that he had three daughters from Jyoti and needed a son. He also told them that the family had come to Gangnahar to offer prayers on the advice of a priest when the incident took place.

The police found the girl`s body at Bhola Jhal while Jyoti`s body was found stuck in a bush in Hindon river in Baghpat, about 20 km away from the site of the incident.

The SP said Kumar told the police that he had an affair with a woman and his wife knew about it. They used to have a lot of fights over the matter, the official added.
