Lung transported after creating 12-km green corridor in Gurugram

 Gurugram: Gurugram traffic police on Sunday created a 12-km green corridor for an ambulance to help transport a lung from Nagpur by air from IGI Airport to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. DCP (traffic), Virender Vij said: “Due to the green corridor, the ambulance covered a distance of 12 km from Gurugram-Delhi border to Medanata hospital, Sector-38 in six minutes, from 9:09 am to 9:15 am, while it can take 15-20 mins during peak hours.” As the time frame for transplanting organs is often limited to seven to eight hours, owing to heavy traffic congestion, the ambulances often lose critical time. “Gurugram traffic police coordinated with Delhi Police to ensure signal-free green corridor be established on the route to allow saving of critical time and timely delivery of organ to the patient,” he said.

 Punjab govt to spend Rs 3.19cr on dog sterilization

 Chandigarh: In a step towards ensuring safety of its residents, Punjab Government will spend Rs 3.19 crore for dog sterilization in Amritsar Municipal Corporation. Announcing this, the Local Government Minister Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar on Sunday said that as a part of the initiative, 20,000 dogs will be sterilized. The objective of sterilization project is to make the lives of Punjab residents more secure, and the initiative is in line with the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to create a safer and more prosperous Punjab, he said.

Minister to conduct district PRGRC meeting in Sirsa on Apr 24

Chandigarh: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister JP Dalal will preside over the meeting of District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee on April 24 in Sirsa district. Giving information, an official spokesperson on Sunday said that in the meeting, the Minister will hear complaints or grievances included in 12 agendas related to various departments and resolve them on the spot. All the department heads have been directed to ensure that they attend the meeting along with the report of the related complaint.

Punjab CM to give appointment letters to 107 in PWD today

Chandigarh: As the Punjab Government completed the recruitment process for 107 Group C and D posts in the Public Works Department, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will hand over the appointment letters to the selected candidates on Monday (April 24), said the state PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Sunday. He said that appointment letters will be given to 98 clerk (Group C), two junior draftsman (Group C, on compassionate grounds) and seven (Group D, on compassionate basis) etc in Public Works Department.  

DSP Dahiya’s son appointed SI under ex-gratia policy

Chandigarh: Akshay Dahiya, son of late DSP Ashok Dahiya who lost his life to corona in April 2021 during his posting in Badli, was on Sunday appointed as sub-inspector under ex-gratia policy. Haryana Home and Health Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said: “It is my duty to work, that is why I am sitting here and people have made me and the party has given me responsibility so that I can solve the problems of the people and will continue to do so”. Late DSP’s wife, Kavita Rani, said that Home Minister has supported her family, for which she was very grateful to him. Akshay has now been appointed SI in Haryana Police in Gurgaon Police Lines.

PU held CET (UG) Entrance Test-2023

Chandigarh: Panjab University, Chandigarh, on Sunday conducted the PU CET (UG) Entrance Test – 2023 for admission to undergraduate courses. Total 17 centres were created — 14 at Chandigarh, one each at Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Sri Muktsar Sahib. Total 87.65 percent candidates appeared in the test. Flying squad and observers were deputed to every centre for routine checking and smooth conduct of the test. The test was conducted satisfactorily and no untoward incident was reported from any of the examination centres.

City-based value-based Edtech Platform, MiVirtue launched

Chandigarh: MiVirtue, a value-based Chandigarh-based Edtech platform, on Sunday announced its national launch. The platform aims to educate moral, social and emotional values through technology based formal education further motivating children to achieve greater success in life. MiVirtue’s founder-CEO Vishal Kumar said: “The world is currently so invested in developing robots and AI but what is being missed is the importance and cruciality of value education and so MiVirtue brings India’s first Value based education platform for kids to spend time and attention in learning right values to face the world with the right attitude and mindset.”
