: A youth hanged himself in his rented accommodation in an apartment in the Damana area in the capital city while making a video call to a girl on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Prabhupada Maharana (22) of Bhadrak district. He was working in a star hotel at Chandrasekharpur of the city, sources said.
Prabhupada reportedly made the video call to his girlfriend and threatened to end his life by hanging himself.
The girl immediately informed Prabhupada’s hotel manager, who along with a few others rushed to the apartment but Prabhupada’s room was found locked from inside. They managed to open the window of the room and found the chef hanging from the ceiling fan, sources said.
The manager informed the incident to police. Cops reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem.
