Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday inaugurated a multi-product manufacturing government factory in Itpal village in Maoist-hit Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
The plant accommodates a garment factory, set up with an investment of over Rs 6.90 crores.
The Chief Minister also inspected the factory and interacted with the women workers.
The main source of livelihood of the villagers living in Bijapur district is agriculture and forest resources. In view of the migration of rural people to other states for work, the Bijapur administration decided to establish the garment factory.
Counseling of 800 women to work in the factory was started and training was given to 200 beneficiaries. In June, the management signed a five-year contract with Dixcy Co and started production in the District Project Livelihood College with 70 women.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister flagged off the first batch of products ready for the market from the factory.
