Bereaved family & public satisfied with action taken in case by Govt so far: Bhatt

Paying homage to Ankita Bhandari on her first death anniversary, the Bharatiya Janata Party has opined that the political programmes of the Congress on this day were unfortunate and hurt public sentiments. The government and the people are with the bereaved family while the Congress leaders are simply trying to grab news space, said the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt.

He alleged that the Congress which is without issues and ideas is now playing politics on Bhandari’s death because the bereaved family and people of the State are fully satisfied with the probe conducted by the special investigation team so far. “The Congress is not accepting this reality and is trying to incite the people by spreading confusion. On directions of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, swift and strict action was taken in this unfortunate case. All the accused were also booked under Gangster Act and undeniable evidence was gathered using all technical means due to which the accused are behind bars waiting for the punishment for their crime. The government is strongly advocating its stand in the court while ensuring the approval of the bereaved family. As sought by Bhandari’s family, the prosecution advocate was also replaced and all suggestions of the family are being considered seriously. Our organisation and government are fully committed to ensure justice to Ankita Bhandari and her bereaved family. We will not rest till the guilty are awarded the strictest punishment for the crime,” said the BJP State president.

Bhatt said that none can compensate for the loss of the victim’s life but the BJP government is taking all necessary steps to alleviate the suffering of the bereaved family. The government provided Rs 25 lakh financial assistance to the family and a proposal to appoint the victim’s brother in THDC was also submitted. He further said that the BJP government arrested the accused within 24 hours and recovered the body in 48 hours while the people of the State remember the time of the Congress government when it used to take weeks to lodge an FIR on gender crimes. The people used to agitate seeking action while the Congress government used to remain busy in trying to make the case complex to shield the guilty, alleged Bhatt. He said that the Congress leaders should cooperate with the government and the public in the court to ensure justice to Ankita Bhandari. Bhatt further alleged that the Congress leaders are unable to digest the fact that the bereaved family and public are fully satisfied with the action taken by the government in the case so far. The people have maintained a distance from the Congress programmes on this issue but the party leaders became so upset with the failure of their political conspiracy that they stooped down to denigrating the people of Garhwal and Uttarakhand.
