Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Sunday that elders are the lighthouse of society and that the new generation progresses under their guidance.
He said this while addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons at the Sardar Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in Raipur.
“A person’s old age is the essence of his lifetime's knowledge and experiences, the accumulation of his lifetime's penance,” he said.
“More than 13 lakh elderly people in the state are availing the benefits of the monthly pension scheme. Siyan Jatan Clinics are run for the healthcare of the elderly.,” he said. On this occasion, Baghel honoured the elderly by giving them shawls and coconuts. He also distributed 825 assistive devices.
